Mirror Mirror....who is the fairest of them all ?

Hello guys...Its been a very long silence here but that's life (I really hate to say that). So I've decided to really push myself. A blog post each day. More like a live update of my life as it happens. Anyway, I started getting out all the drafts I've kept stored for the longest of time. I'm not sure how this would go yet, I've made too many promises before now, lol...it's time to just get on with it.

I'm sure that most of us are familiar with the title above, but for clarity sake and to jog up someone's memory, I'll say where I culled it from. This is a popular statement from Snow White's movies/cartoons used by the wicked step-mum that wanted to reign forcefully. Yeah! that's it. Although this post has nothing to do with the story, the statement she makes has a lot to do with the write-up.

This post is a sequel of an earlier post (the beautiful soul). the link will send us right to the genesis of this master piece. I am soooo sorry it has taken a long time now from the previous one. This was not my original intention and actually its been too long to remember what my original intention was. Anyway, what you see in the mirror is what you get, most of the time, except you're using concave, convex stuff. What you see is pretty much who you are on the outside. You can't wish yourself away, you can't wish that fat tucked in your tummy away, or the bulgy eyes that's staring back at you. You just have to accept the person you see first in front of you before any change can begin.

A lot has happened in my life, some good, some not so good but its all a learning process. One thing I've learnt is that no one can deal with you except you. We can motivate you, encourage you, criticize you, but no one can cause anything to happen in your own life without your permission. Own yourself, take responsibility, you have to first accept life as it is, then you can move forward.....

well that's it for today guys....see you tomorrow....

In Pursuit of my dreams....

Welcome to the month of March, guys...
As I stated in the previous post, I'll try to keep up with bi-weekly posts...which means I owe you guys 2 posts for the month of February. But here's a fresh post from March on pursuing our dreams...I hope it inspires you to dream again....so please read on, like, comment and share. Thanks...Enjoy!!!

                http://cdn.tinybuddha.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Follow-Your-Dream.png

Dreams, imaginations, interests, purpose…etc, whichever vocabulary you prefer, but I use dreams for this post. Dreams in this context are those imaginations within us that light up our souls when we think of them, the kind we day-dream about. That is what I’m referring to in this post

I was having a chat with a friend and I realized just how intertwined this topic is and so I decided to share from my own experiences on pursuing my dreams.
I have always had dreams for as long as I can remember…I’ve had interests in a variety of things, some more lasting than others. At one point when I was younger, I wanted to be an athlete but that dream quickly faded away, as I couldn’t even keep up with a 100 m race (I tried in Secondary School). But some others ran and enjoyed it. Even when they fell, they ”licked” their wounds and kept going. I realized that my interest in the sport was mainly because I was exposed to sports at an early age and just loved what I saw. I was merely an admirer and not a partaker. I’ve had several other interests which along the line, I realized I wasn’t tailor made for, so I dropped them. But looking back, I can say that some interests have stood the test of time over and over again, while some new dreams have been born and new ones are still yet to be born...lol. To a large extent, I think our capacity to dream lies in what we’ve been exposed to and what we took interest in. That’s why even till this day, as my knowledge of my environment grows, so have my dreams. Dreams never have a constant shape or container, so they're always changing or evolving. It’s like I said earlier about the athletic dream I got rid off, it’s no use sticking to a dream you aren’t built for. Even, though dreams can be multi-faceted, I realized there's usually a common rooted thought were all others spring from…and for me its solving problems and spreading hope.

Due to the intangible nature of dreams, they can be easily lost if not held on to tight. But never let reality drown your dreams, hold onto them as tightly as you can and work towards them. There's a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that comes from seeing our dreams come to life. It gives a sense of pride and joy and its in those times we feel like we have truly accomplished and have become a success. "One day..I would like to do this and that…" isn't a foolish/childish talk, it's a sign that you are not done yet and there's yet more fulfillment ahead. I know reality can be challenging, (I'm in it too..) but with dogged determination we can make our dreams come true. For some of us that may be asking, "What are my dreams?.. " Its anything you think about that gives you joy (that's within the human rights law...lol). It could be prospects of a peaceful family, work at it. Sometimes its an infamous path, work at it. Anything at all you dream about is worthy and the beautiful thing is they keep evolving as we go and grow through life. At times our dreams become unclear, that we even forget, but anytime we see something that looks like it, we light up. It is good practice to keep the things that inspire us close, so we should start digging up for them, the more the merrier..lol.
Start trying out the things you love..so you know where you stand, if you're the admirer, or a partaker. For instance, I keep bloggers close on my Instagram page, I follow writers, I follow makeup artist, I follow musicians, I follow photographers and others…lol. They are a dose of inspiration to me and a pointer at what the reality of my dreams might look like. Now, I may not end up doing all but I can say I will not be doing anything outside that.

In conclusion, don't chase after false hopes, but real dreams. Just because you see people on social media or wherever "living the life" doesn't mean there isn't hard work holding it all together. Work at your dreams and dream some more. Cheers to following our dreams and making them a reality!!!

Be Intentional in 2017

Happy New Year guys..It was an awesome 2016 but it will be an even better 2017. Please read on;

A lot has been on my mind. I've been very behind in keeping up with this fast paced world..you know, the one we see on screens, media etc. Even in my own space where I am queen, it felt like I had been dethroned, I was now second place. This is so not the introduction I was seeking in the new year..the pressure to measure up was rising and still is...Take the blogging world for e.g "almost everyone posted about lessons learnt in 2016, I didn't...almost everyone talked on the New Year & resolutions, I didn't and this wasn't because I was doing something else...lol. Please ask me what I've been doing then...I've been reading other blog posts and saying I should be doing this and I've actually written down some posts (in my notebook) but nothing has been happening on the surface. Now instead of being inspired by other bloggers, I was feeling discouraged (not the serious kind anyway..) because it just amplified how lazy I had been by seeing how diligent they were.

But enough with the ranting....I like to see myself as a solution oriented person..so I've decided to be more intentional with this blog. I will try to post once or twice at least bi-weekly and plan topics ahead to share monthly. The major problem has always been I write as I'm inspired and inspiration hits at anytime hence the irregular pattern of the posts. So I intend to start pursuing the inspiration as against just going with the flow, so that i can write more from my heart. My encouragement for the year ahead is to be more intentional in creating the change we desire, be it a relationship, career, spiritual life etc. This is my happy new year post especially to all of us starting slow...it will take shape and speed. May your dreams (the selfless ones) come true in this New Year. *kisses...*

HAPPY NEW..DAY

A new day isn't nearly as celebrated as a new month or a new year. I think its because most of us just expect to wake up everyday and its not really anything special, but it is and I'll tell you why.
Recently, I was thinking of some changes I wanted to make as regards growing spiritually but unconsciously I decided to start next year since we are almost at the close of this year...(very unwise decision). It was then the Holy Spirit asked me this question "what is wrong with the 29th"..( which was the day I was meditating). This really sank deep...Now I ask you guys the same question, what is wrong with today? Why I'm I postponing a good plan till next year..just so I can begin on a New year...or month? It was then I realized that most of us unconsciously don't recognise a new day as a privilege but as our right. We find ourselves waiting for a new phase to present itself before starting that business, breaking that bad habit, learning that new skill and so on. We don't even realise that each day is "a new phase". In the Bible, God says His mercies are new each morning not every month or every January... but everyday. Let's get up and start executing those plans and stop waiting for the new year.
As for me, I will start cherishing everyday as if it was a new month or year...I'll start implementing those plans right away because I've been given another opportunity at life today and not next year.
You know how we get all excited and energetic in preparation for the New year that even drives us to make those "new year resolutions" we often never fulfil...let's say we put in just a little of that energy into each day, I can only imagine the success stories that would be flooding us.
No two days are the same, so let's stop dragging the happenings of yesterday into the new day and treating each day as if it were all the same. Lets be excited about each day because its truly a gift. Learn to forgive, live fully and love richly because guess what, if we are alive today, then we still have hope and an opportunity to right our wrongs and make whatever contributions we want to society and whether tomorrow comes or not we will have lived without regrets...

With love from Queen Amina...

Dating as we know it (PART II)

So just picking up from where I left in the first part of this post... Dating shouldn't be done as something you engage in just because you are attracted to someone but an intentional direction towards marriage. It shouldn't be an exaggerated form of getting to know someone. When you do marry, you will continually be unfolding every part of yourselves which is what makes it fun and exciting. Its no wonder some marriages are dull, because the essential "knowing" has been done during "dating". Instead of having the thrill of newness spice up your marriage, what you get is a dull obligation to someone else. In doing this (keeping your relationship pure), you honor God (at least for a Christian) and because of that you can trust Him to come through for you in marriage and other aspects of your life.
To be sincere with you guys, I think "dating" is a waste of time because I just end up doing things that please my flesh and not my spirit. I don't glorify God with my body by presenting as a "living sacrifice" and fleeing all forms of sexual immorality because dating places a pressure to thread in that way.
Some people are of the idea that dating is a process of trying to see if you guys fit and if you don't, well you move on. But lets take a serious look into this, a popular example used is shopping. Its like going to a store to try out shoes to see which size fits you well. First of all, you should already know your size, not by trying all the shoes but measuring your feet with some measuring tape...lol. (This is a message here people, know thyself using a standard(Christ). Stop trying too many things.)
Secondly, once you know your size and during the process of trying out a shoe, it gets damaged, like the heel got broken or any notable damage to the shoe, you shouldn't expect to receive a pat on the back. You will have to pay in one form or the other for damaging the shoe, because it will be harder to sell a damaged shoe as the value would have depreciated. So can you see the end point of this logic, (its not my idea to compare dating to a shopping exercise by the way...). It shows you that if you must date never damage each other in an attempt to see if you guys fit. You have a responsibility to either leave the person how you met them or add value to them. Now if you're not doing any of these, then I'm sorry to say but you guys aren't DATING you're PLAYING...Have a great day guys. God bless.

Dating as we know it (PART I)

Hey guys..Long time, no post. So I can say I've been so busy but I know that's not the main reason I haven't posted anything in a long time. No excuses, just repentance, receiving forgiveness and carrying on from where I stopped. So the topic today has been on my mind..and I actually journal-ed it in my diary on the 13th of January this year, but have not been able to post it until now.
Dating in this sense is the coming together of a guy and a girl who are attracted to each other for a romantic relationship. This gives them room to get to "know" each other better and later decide if they want to continue to marriage or just break up and either become enemies or stay friends...lol.
Lets go back in time for a bit, in those days when a guy was interested in a lady, he got to know her and met the family to state his intentions. Shortly afterwards, "courting" (which is a form of dating but with marriage in view) began and in most cases marriage followed. Fast forward to these days, another intermediary process has been included..DATING. This happens after a guy sees a lady he likes and then "asks her out" and they start dating. In other words, they get into an exclusive relationship, where they get to know each other more. Sometimes its official and other times its not..lol. I wouldn't have had a problem with this concept as its an avenue to get to know each other but it always has a tendency of derailing or going far from its high minded intentions/ purpose.
Since the goal of dating is to "know" each other, they start meeting frequently, having long conversations, wanting more privacy, sometimes even move in with each other, all in an attempt to know someone better. Mind you in all this time, there has not been marriage in view (even though sometimes they occasionally discuss it). They want to keep "knowing" the person before they commit to a lifetime mistake. Well, the aim is noble but I dare say the process is. This "Dating" has led to a lot of single parenting, abortions, unwanted babies, abandoned children and so on. My question is two-fold, can you know a person fully? how long will you know each other before its enough for marriage or break up? The truth is we can never really know someone fully and new chapters of our lives open up now and then that even surprise us. Lets cut this deception and get serious with our lives. Guys if you find a lady that interests you, check her out, get closer, know what her values and ideals are, her dreams, goals and aspirations, the kind of family she's from. Take your time to pray and ask God for wisdom and direction before the aforementioned. Then if all is well, make a formal declaration of your intentions to her father or any other close leader figure in her life. This helps you to stay on course during the relationship and treat the lady with much regard.
I definitely have a lot to say on this but it will be too lengthy on one post, so I'm going to stop here and pour out the rest of my heart in the next part. Stay tuned guys, God bless.

Riding the Highs and lows of life....

Have you ever felt soo good at one time you felt like you were going to burst but you didn't  and not so long after you felt like the worst person on earth....Well, I have and recently it has become more frequent that I can't ignore and immediately needs addressing.
I've struggled amidst high and low points in my life soo much that being consistent became difficult to keep at. I could go for a very wonderful service and come out soo alive and instead of fanning the flames ...I douse it with one mistake. The worse part is if you're introverted like me, you probably keep your struggles to yourself because "they" might not just get it...Anyway, this article isn't to solicit for your pity but actually share steps that are helping put me on a better platform of enjoying a more wholesome steady life.
1. Your mistakes don't define you. This is very important to me and should also be to you. If you take the lovely things about you as seriously as you took the bad...the bad wouldn't even have as much impact on you.
2.  Learn quickly and move on as fast as yesterday. The more time we wallow in guilt and self battering the harder it is to come out and do the wonderful things that are waiting for us out there.
3. Remember your future. Is your "past" mistake really worth throwing away your priceless future which by the way starts right now. I don't think it does. So please stop selling yourself cheap.
4. Take your lessons learned seriously. This will help avoid future disappointment in that same area and if you don't you will repeat that stage till you learn.
5. Talk to a wiser person. If after doing stuffs to remedy your situation and the problems still persist, talk to someone who is much wiser and can also identify with what you're going through. This will help in many ways like access to sound advice, someone to encourage you to be your best. Chances are you are less likely to fall into the same thing with a good mentor/ friend than without.
Life doesn't give promotions without kowing that you have got the corresponding strength to manage it. God even said He will not allow something you cannot handle come to you (Paraphrased). Whatever you currently face you have the power to conquer.
I'll end by leaving the picture of a surfer in your mind. Don't complain or struggle or feel down about your lows, study the wave pattern and Ride gracefully. Love you guys.

Things don't make us better

I don't even know if this is the most appropriate title but you will soon understand what this article is really about.
In recent years, with all the technology advancements in Africa, I too have not been left behind in the thrill and have become very tech conscious. The gadgets, the websites, the blogs, the Internet, the mobile apps and so on. It's really exploding everyday.
Anyway, so when I started this blog, all I wanted to do was write impactful things. I thought to myself that if I had "better" gadgets, I will be a more efficient writer. So my target was get a 'smarter' smartphone, a top specs laptop, better Internet access and so on ...I hadn't realised that the soul of the passion for writing wasn't found in the things I was amassing but in me. This is were I started to notice a downward spiral. I wasn't more effective than I was when I first started. I had trusted things too much over me.
Technology is good but humans are the brains behind it. No application ever ran without a computer geek somewhere, no site ever ran without the programmer, no machine (even artificial intelligence) ever made that didn't involve humans. These 'things' are here to make our lives easier not show us that we can't do without them. They only have value because of you and I. So the next time you think it's your laptop that's slowing you down, just remember that you are the boss and smarter than it. You will soon realise that restricting yourself to the confines of machines, doesn't just limit you to what it can do, it slowly kills innovation and creativity.
"Things" won't work until you've gone to work.
Cheers 😉☺

The plank in our eyes

I want to start by saying that this is first of all talking to me..more than anyone else. Most times its easier to see the fault of others..its easier to point fingers to the next person and blame him/her for your short comings...its easier to give advice or criticise someone else even when your in the same boat. But is it right...? Certainly not.
I've been in many situations where I was hurt by what someone did or didn't do..and also where I criticised, judged and passed sentence...loool...But then I painfully remember when I was in a similar situation and didn't respond any better...I still let out my steam and trash whoever though... but deep down I can now put myself in the person's shoes and realise just how much I've hurt someone else...It takes my eyes off the current situation I'm in where I'm demanding to be treated "right" and I find myself really sorry about the persons I have previously mistreated..
The fact is..nobody is perfect...This isnt to say everybody should go on and treat people without respecting them just because they must have hurt someone else too ..No! Rather its a call to treat people in the way you will want to be treated...So next time before you pass that judgement "Judge"...take a step back and be sure to remove the plank in your own eyes first...I'm sure by the time you're done.. you will have very little strength left for criticism. ...
Enjoy your day...

N:B  I know I've been the most slothful blogger....no excuses...no blames on anyone but myself...picking up the pieces and starting all over...

Are you a local Champion?

Bidding a friend farewell as she went out to meet a couple of some other friends who were not in our own circle of friends, I realized just how relevant she was/ is. I smiled to myself and told her to keep being relevant. Of course she didn't understand what was going on as she wasn't aware of the thought being processed in my head at the time. I spared her the trouble of explaining the weird response though and left her puzzled...Now to the real puzzle of the day, I have observed that amongst our close niche of friends, we portray a strong and confident personality, but outside this circle, when situations arise to test all that confidence, our response is usually a different story entirely. Why?
Using myself as a case study, I belong to a wonderful unique clique of friends (league of extraordinary gifts), where we use our talents for the advancement of God's kingdom. The league has given us something to be proud of and made us realise just how important we are. We have a central place where we all feel at home and function at our best but outside these walls, its a tug of war to remain as relevant as we were at 'home'. It’s almost like we are a different people.
All we think of is how to come back and enjoy each other’s company. Now this isn’t wrong in itself as it shows our bond and strength in love. However, on the flip side, it reveals a big weakness. If the motivation for coming home is to just be with loved ones rather than because you are bored of where you are, it’s ok. But that is usually not the case.
Yeah, I'm sure you are about to say that there's no place like home, I agree, but we can't dominate the world by staying at "home". Now, DON'T GET ME WRONG, its not that I'm against staying in our comfort zones where we are accepted and valued, but I'm against getting TOO COMFORTABLE THERE. I want us to realise that if we want to be the impactful, relevant people we talk of, then we have to get comfortable with adapting to 'foreign lands'.
Remembering my friend I referred to in the beginning, maybe you now see everything I saw in that seemingly common situation and maybe understand my reaction a little. It got me thinking just how valueable she was (at least that was how I saw it, I know its a long shot). I think the question that should be foremost in our minds now is “Just how relevant am I and what is the boundary of this relevance”. What am I doing to become relevant anywhere at any time? Answering these questions will prepare us for life's uncertainties. This post as much as I’m writing to everyone is also to myself. As for me, I have made up my mind not to be a local champion or be limited by the geography of a place. I'm going to be sharing "how" I plan on being relevant everywhere and anytime in my next post. You can join me, there’s still space for some international stars.
Cheers!!!

The Busy-ness of Life.

Sometimes in our lives, we get carried away with life's challenges that for a moment or a while, we lose 'ourselves' in it. We stop doing the things that we once cherished, things that made us smile and turn to just existing. The worst of this case are people who have gotten so used to these 'abnormalities' that they now accept their way of living as 'normal' or 'that is how life is'..as some will put. There are even some others who have come to like the term 'I'm busy', so they can appear relevant to their peers like they're making impact. I have noticed that only a few have qualitative impact in their busyness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying being busy is bad, I'm just saying, being busy about the wrong thing is a problem. Taking my life as a case study, I realized that I got soo busy at work that I hadn't done any constructive write up in months now. I just kept postponing till I completely didn't do anything about it. I almost started adjusting to some stereotype lifestyle, thank God I realized and I'm back on track. A wider example that cuts across many of us is the case of our childhood dreams. As a little girl, I remember I had so many beautiful dreams of how I wanted my life to look like, but as I grew older I started to become more 'realistic'...*laughs*. This is not to say we should all become dreamers chasing after shadows. Rather, its a call to awaken the ingenious locked away inside each of us. We shouldn't drop those childhood dreams saying they were immature, instead we should refine them to fit into present times. Life is to be lived to the fullest and not just passed through. This cannot happen if we are carried away with busyness in the wrong things and accepting an average lifestyle instead of utilizing our potential to make the world more appreciable.

Hearty Cheers!!!

Are you just satisfying a need or its by choice?

As we go through our everyday lives, we are usually faced wth one need or the other, but how we satisfy those needs are just as crucial as the need itself. I've realised from experience that whenever a need arises, we tend to rule out reason and try to satisfy that need any how, but when we ignore the urgency of the feeling and calm down, we are usually in a better position to make better choices than when we let the urgency of how or what we feel dictate our results for us. A very basic example is 'food hunger' as we can be hungry for many things. I've realised that when I'm hungry, I don't calm down to eat well, I bow to the voice of hunger and munch on the closest food available (of course cooking is rarely an option) even when someone is already preparing a meal I enjoy, I'm just usually too impatient to wait. Though I feel better, I'm rarely satisfied. I used this example because most of us are familiar with it, but this could be applied to any area of life. The reality in life is that sometimes we have to exercise a little discipline in the present to get a desirable future. I've started applying this principle and its been wonderful. Though silencing your feelings would not be as easy as I write here but the ''wholesome meal'' you enjoy at the end of the day is usually worth the wait. So guys before you attempt anything ask yourself if you are just satisfying a need or it s by choice..Cheers!

Our very own basic human rights

Have you ever wondered what your basic rights as a person were. Well, I think most of us (me inclusive) know these rights exist somewhere but are vaguely aware of what they are exactly. During one of my random online search, I came across these rights in an online magazine.... 'covering the good deeds of individuals, charities and businesses'...that's how they put it.***smiles. Anyway, so I took the liberty of sharing it here with you guys...At least now you'll know when next you infringe on your neighbor's right....Happy reading and applying.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

10. The right to trial. If we are put on trial this should be in public. The people who try us should not let anyone tell them what to do.
11. Innocent until proven guilty. Nobody should be blamed for doing something until it is proven. When people say we did a bad thing we have the right to show it is not true.
12. The right to privacy. Nobody should try to harm our good name. Nobody has the right to come into our home, open our letters or bother us or our family without a good reason.
13. Freedom to move. We all have the right to go where we want in our own country and to travel as we wish.

19. Free to say what you want. We all have the right to make up our own minds, to think what we like, to say what we think, and to share our ideas with other people.
20. Meet where you like. We all have the right to meet our friends and to work together in peace to defend our rights. Nobody can make us join a group if we don’t want to.
21. The right to democracy. We all have the right to take part in the government of our country. Every grown-up should be allowed to choose their own leaders.
22. The right to social security. We all have the right to affordable housing, medicine, education, and child care, enough money to live on and medical help if we are ill or old.
23. Workers’ rights. Every grown-up has the right to do a job, to a fair wage for their work, and to join a trade union.
24. The right to play. We all have the right to rest from work and to relax.
25. A bed and some food. We all have the right to a good life. Mothers and children, people who are old, unemployed or disabled, and all people have the right to be cared for.
26. The right to education. Education is a right. Primary school should be free. We should learn about the United Nations and how to get on with others. Our parents can choose what we learn.
27. Culture and copyright. Copyright is a special law that protects one’s own artistic creations and writings; others cannot make copies without permission. We all have the right to our own way of life and to enjoy the good things that “art,” science and learning bring.
28. A free and fair world. There must be proper order so we can all enjoy rights and freedoms in our own country and all over the world.
29. Our responsibilities. We have a duty to other people, and we should protect their rights and freedoms.
30. Nobody can take away these rights and freedoms from us.

redefining me

I changed the name of this blog because I felt that it wasn't encompassing enough for what I am about to introduce...bear with me. I want to start posting everything that I perceive someone somewhere may need and I can get. It will range from information on anything that has worked for me or someone else. One of the reasons I am doing this is because other blogs/sites have been so helpful to me without asking for anything in return, this is like my thank you for all those bundles of information you share every second. Please post your comments on anything you need help with and be sure you will hear from me, most probably with an answer. Remember its just about helping the next person pass over something you have faced before. I love you guys. Cheers

A grateful heart

Recently, I was reading a book titled "Battlefield of the mind" and I came across a very usual term GRATEFUL. I'm sure you may be wondering what's so striking about the word, but I tell you that I haven't been taken aback by that word like I was on that day and like flowers respond to sunlight, my heart was flooded with light on that term "grateful".
Before now, I used to think that I was a grateful person (...not saying that I'm not), but averagely I think I did the 'usual' things. I now realise that being grateful is not that thing we do passively, but rather its a conscious active attitude. Its more than saying thank you for a service, but having a grateful outlook and attitude towards life in general. I once heard someone say..."only someone that can think that can thank", very true....Its true that there are a lot of discouraging things going on around us and these things are so in our faces that we sometimes forget the good things that have happened and are still happening to us. A very basic example many take for granted is LIFE. I like to say/think that only living people have the luxury of facing problems....dead people don't. I'm sure if the dead could speak they'll prefer a second chance in this "problematic world" rather than an untimely death....
I just want us to be conscious of the good things that happen in our lives and start being grateful for them, no matter how "normal" they seem, as there are still some that wish for what you have right now but can't get it.. that you are able to read this, is more than enough reason to be grateful...not everyone can read.
have a grateful weekend....cheers

............

As you should have noticed ,there's no title...*laffs*. it was intentional. This blog is intended to inspire everyone that bumps on it *laffs*.....that's why I don't really post very personal daily routines, like how I woke up and brushed my teeth and all that kind of stuff but only what will inspire someone else. Hence the name INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGES....and its not going to change but only modify..... Realised that I haven't formally explained what this blog was all about....so i thought to do so now...pardon my manners..
You know those times (especially at nights) when you are just on your bed, with your earphones on, and the music so loud, its like you are in a world of your own.....and you just want to stay there. Well I'm sort of in that position right now....hmmm.
Its funny what I realised (apart from my imagination breaking limits) in my 'me time'....the kind of songs I listened to, reflected my mood at the instant...If the song was sad, I thought of all the sad things that had happened and made up some futuristic ones also...*laffs*...if it was a love song, I thought of all the failed relationships I've been in and how I'm still very single ... but when I listened to brilliant songs (they were christian songs by the way), I actually felt lifted and like I had the ability to change whatever situation I was in...the power of music. I'm seriously in LOVE with MUSIC....but I'm also very careful of whatever I feed my soul with (of which music is a very important food for the soul) because it will find expression somehow. Though I wouldn't deny that sometimes I'm drawn to songs that aren't inspiring probably because of their brilliant rythm...but I have also realised that at the end of the day, I felt better listening to the songs that encouraged me than the ones that kept me down. they feed the soul with lies, discouragement, broken hearts and pass the wrongest of messages, the most irritating of them, that SEX=LOVE...Its all just very silly....
Someone said.."think about what you are thinking about"....because "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he"....
paraphrasing the second part, we have, "a man becomes what he continually thinks on". I totally agree...think about it....love you all.......

the beautiful SOUL

Mirrors...at least plane ones, are supposed to reflect and produce an exact image of the object in front.. most mornings when I wake up (.. I'm also sure you do the same), no matter how much in a hurry I am, its almost impossible not to steal a glance at d mirror just to make sure I look presentable as I go out...that just shows how important a mirror can be.
A good image of one's self has away of boosting your confidence so much that when you step out,it seems like you can take on the world...*it just might happen*....A bad one the other hand can deflate your self confidence & trust me, those aren't your finest hours.
So how do we escape this dark aura and boost our image?....is it by putting on more makeup...(im soo not against make-up) or wearing fancier clothes....Of course these things are good, but I want to draw our attention to something deeper.
lets picture a scenario where you woke up one bright morning and really cleaned up nicely..looking all hot..you looked yourself in the mirror & scored your image a 101%..*laffs...there are days i feel like that. then as soon as you step out, ready to take on your world, someone just splashes muddy water on you...how would you feel? bad, i presume...from this picture, its safe to conclude that the reflection we see no matter how beautiful it appears, isn't enough to tie our confidence to, because of its very temporary nature.
lets picture another scenario where this time around as you dressed up your body, you also dressed up your soul. as you stepped out, some guy also splashed muddy water on you...I don't know anyone in their right mind that will be happy with the incident but unlike the first scenario, you still have something going for you. In fact, you still have like 99.0%  intact and what you lost (your fancy clothes) becomes negligible, because no matter how bad the stain was, its still miles away from reaching your soul...How are you dressing up your soul.....this is my point of interest..
my next post would be sharing thoughts as to dressing up our souls and the kind of  mirror used in checking out the reflection of our soul.

WHO WE ARE

Have you ever wondered that if there weren't any mirrors, you probably wouldn't really know what your face looked like, except someone helped you out of course...very funny, but true. As humans, I have come to realize that we all look but see differently, which implies that how I look like would have been described in a thousand ways by different people because of their various perceptions. It would have been a very confusing thing, but then again thank God for the technology behind mirrors....Is someone wondering why I'm  thanking God and not science...you'll find out in a bit. More than 2000 years ago when He made man, He made him in His image and likeness. He was the first ever to say anything about our image and tell us what our reflection was to look like. He gave us a mirror not like the ones that show you how small your nose is or how big your are (just kidding....btw i have a big nose), but the kind that reveals His glorious image which is the same as the one He made us in..
how do i prove that...well, you are the prove...yes you. your reading this now and trying to logically explain what I'm saying, but the truth is, a dog can't do that.*smiles*.. if you need any more proves post your comments, I'll be sure to reply. The question now is why we do not reflect that wonderful image of God. Let's consider a scenario where a person didn't look at a mirror in the morning and sometime later in the day I asked why something was wrong with a part of his face, he would most likely not be able to answer me correctly because he doesn't know whats wrong. Its almost the same thing with the glory of God. It is as we look into the mirror of God (His word) that we become aware of our true selves and that is only when we can take advantage of it.
Even till date, despite the fact that we readily have mirrors that show us our physical appearances, they still do not tell us all that we need to know and by the time you go on asking people around you, you are back to being the person I first described in the beginning..CONFUSED. The only remedy to clearing this doubt is by holding up every opinion and bringing it side by side with the image of God, which we find in His word as we study it...Your identity is very important, because when the purpose of a thing isn't known, abusing it is inevitable..

Vision

Vision is borne out of compassion and dissatisfaction...I heard someone say this recently (the compassion part) and it really stuck....Visions are passion driven and are birthed as a result of dissatisfaction. When you are comfortable with your position, there's hardly any drive or will pushing you to break limits and you can never truly do something excellently unless you have a vision. I used to have this misconception that being visionary was a big deal, but like I said it was a MISCONCEPTION. Visions are not just those big dreams that we never accomplish, but they are the end result or the picture of how a thing CAN BE against how IT IS...So, as little as saying "I'm  really tired of the way things are going and i want a change"....can be the turn around point for your vision. Something stirs up in you and this provokes some action which is first a clear decision of what you want to achieve and then the necessary steps to follow. Congratulations! you have just created a vision in that aspect of your life. So lets go back to our lives and see the things that appear fuzzy or have lost focus and realign them. Remember, visions are passion driven and are birthed as a result of dissatisfaction with your present state. Be dissatisfied
